Parallel port:
--------------

If you have problems with connecting to the other computer or the
connection hangs just after starting, you should first test that your
hardware connection is okay:

For the Amiga there is a test program in the Amiga directory (CLI only):

  apccomm_test

For linux you have to compile it with

  make test

Now first start the test program at the Amiga without any argument and follow
the instructions EXACTLY.
It will run some simple test patterns and the Linux counterpart should receive
them correctly.

After this test start apccomm_test first at Linux and follow the instructions
again (they are the same as the first one). This time the direction
Linux->Amiga is tested.

The most interesting information is the checksum printed after the first test.
The second test checks every bit for itself, compare the output of both sides.
If you see any problems, send please send me the output of both version and
I will try to help but when this tests fails it looks like a hardware problem.
If you have no problems with your parallel ports (amiga and pc are able to
print...) then it's most likely the LapLink-cable.

Serial port:
------------

You need a null-modem cable (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Null_modem)
with all 7/8 wire correctly connected.

Also, you have to configure the speed correctly on both sides to the
same value.

Finally, in the multi-tasking environment on the Amiga, a lot of
interrupts may prevent the incoming serial data to be stored fast
enough leading to a hardware overrun. In such case, a transmission
error is shown. In this case, try stopping other programs or use a
slower connection speed.
